Bob Costas speaks at the University of Kentucky
Bob Costas of NBC Sports delivered the inaugural Gidel/Lombardo Lecture in Sports Communication.
The Gidel/Lombardo Lecture series was made possible by a gift from the Gidel and Lombardo families in honor of Rob Gidel Jr.'s graduation from the University of Kentucky journalism program. Rob was active in sports journalism during his time at UK and worked in several sports broadcasting jobs after graduation.
(He's now in law school in Florida.) Because of the family's interest in sports and the strong interest in sports journalism and sports promotion among UK students, the Gidel/Lombardo gift was used to establish this series.
The Gidel/Lombardo Lecture in Sports Communication will bring a nationally prominent sports journalist or sports promoter to the University of Kentucky each year.
